ADP freedom tunes up as headline act for Hard Rock Cafe
Better service for staff; better information for management
August 2006: Hard Rock Café has signed up ADP freedom to manage the payroll of its 500 UK based employees. The first Hard Rock Café opened in London on 14 June 1971 offering moderately priced, casual American fare combined with its unique rock-and-roll experience. Today the brand, now part of the Rank Group plc, operates more than 120 cafés, in 40 countries and is the world’s leading collector and exhibitor of rock-and-roll memorabilia.
Michael Booher, Hard Rock Café’s Director of Finance, Europe, said, “The majority of our staff are transient and are paid on an hourly basis with a significant element of their pay coming in through tips. For them, each payslip is important. Understandably, they frequently need a lot of information, which is why ADP freedom’s on-line self-service capability is going to be so helpful to them.”
Hard Rock’s finance team has a lot of experience working with fragmented payroll systems across its European operations. While the systems work well, Hard Rock is looking forward to the efficiencies that will come through a high level of standardisation with ADP; “Economically we will have much more information at our fingertips with ADP freedom and be able to provide a better service to our staff for the same costs,” he said.
Combining web-based single database technology with on-line access and sophisticated best practise employee management processes, ADP freedom is at the forefront of payroll and employee data management services. Commenting on choosing ADP, Booher said, “ADP is one of the strongest names in its industry. Longer term, my aim is to standardise our procedures across our European businesses with ADP.” Initially, ADP freedom will be used by Hard Rock Café to service staff in its seven UK locations; London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Leeds and Cardiff.
