Harwoods chooses ADP to support business acceleration

31 July 2009: Harwoods, the car dealership, has chosen ADP to run the payroll for its 660 employees in 12 locations across the South of England. The company, a family run business established in 1931, has chosen ADP’s web based system, ADP freedom, and will receive a processing service alongside its HR administration tools.

Having expanded rapidly in recent years, Harwoods had outgrown its previous payroll system and had been on the look out for a cost effective new service, which would suit its large and multi-site workforce. The company was aware of ADP and was impressed with its freedom offering, particularly the HR functionality, which wasn’t available on its previous system.

In particular, the company was attracted to ADP freedom’s ability to provide group-wide absence reporting, allowing any absence issues to be highlighted and addressed. The employee and manager self-service options were also a key selling point as they will allow managers to enter data into the system from each showroom, removing the need for the payroll manager to input the data again centrally.

“As a business with employees across many different locations, we needed a service that would not only manage the payroll efficiently but also give us access to centralised reporting tools,” said Paul Suter, Finance Director, Harwoods. “ADP freedom is webbased so can be accessed and updated by managers at each individual showroom. This will help speed up the payroll process and increase the value that it adds across the organisation.”

Don McGuire, UK Managing Director, ADP, added: “As well as providing an accurate and efficient payroll service, ADP freedom also gives the added benefit of up to the minute data capture tools, allowing detailed reporting and statistical analysis. These can be hugely beneficial to an organisation like Harwoods by providing details of trends and patterns, which can be used to support the growth of the business as a whole.”
