ADP and Decathlon make a winning team
22 March 2010: Decathlon, the French sports chain, has chosen ADP to provide payroll and time and attendance management for its 650 employees across seven UK stores. The company will use the ADP freedom and ezLaborManager services, with the aim of improving payroll efficiency and accuracy while supporting expansion plans, which involve a new Decathlon store in Belfast and smaller-store format, Koodza, later this year.
Decathlon chose ADP because it was the only provider able to supply an integrated payroll and time and attendance management solution thereby removing any need to transfer time and attendance data from one system to another. The company also has a successful existing relationship with ADP through Decathlon Brazil and its operations in the Netherlands and Belgium.
An added attraction was the manager self service functionality, which enables department managers within stores to manage their own payroll information, with HR and senior staff able to check and approve data at any time through automation of tasks, email alerts and validation reports. This functionality means that Decathlon only needs to implement a processing service, whereas previously it used a managed service, as the workload will now be spread across the company. This will significantly increase efficiency and also help cut costs.
An added bonus for Decathlon is ADP freedom’s employee self service function, which allows staff to view their payslip and personal details online as well as manage their holidays remotely, simply by logging into the online system. This is particularly useful for temporary and shift workers. The company was also impressed with ADP freedom’s reporting capability, which enables it to access pay and HR information instantly and at any time during the pay cycle.
Lisa Dunstan, Payroll Manager, Decathlon UK, said: “Our manual process for collating staff pay data was cumbersome and prone to errors. With expansion planned in the UK, we needed a system that was more efficient, secure and that would give us access to payroll and HR data at short notice. We approached a number of suppliers but ADP was the only one to offer time and labour management and payroll as a package. Plus the self service and reporting will give us added value, ensuring everything is as streamlined as possible. ”
Don McGuire, CEO, ADP UK, said: “ADP freedom and ezLaborManager are the ideal combination for Decathlon, providing an integrated, cost-effective and user-friendly solution. The system ensures that no re-keying of data is required, eliminating possible human error and because both tools are web native, Decathlon’s store managers can manage their own data for their own staff. The whole process will become more efficient and the HR and payroll department are freed up to add real value to the business.”
Decathlon is currently implementing ADP ezLaborManager with hand punch scanners being piloted at the Giltbrook store, ready for a full role-out at the end of June. The payroll element will go live in July.
